IT-Logik statement on GDPR
As GDPR regulations come in to effect later on this year, IT-Logik would like to address our own position on GDPR, including how we comply in terms of handling personal data, and the services we offer.
What exactly is GDPR?
Put simply, GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a piece of EU legislation that comes to effect on the 25th May 2018 for all EU countries.
It’s core aim is to establish a set of rules that define how we protect someone’s data. A lot of the regulations in GDPR are very similar to those found under The Data Protection Act. It only applies to you if you handle a EU’s citizens data.
It has also been suggested that the UK will continue to enforce GDPR after Britain formally leaves the European Union.
What IT-Logik have done to comply with GDPR in terms of Data
Current and future policies: The team at IT-Logik have reviewed current and future policies that are effected by GDPR and have enforced all necessary changes before the legislation comes in to effect. This has involved how we manage consent and creating an action plan that ensures we are complainant. We have ensured this action plan has been passed down to all members of staff that need to be aware of the legislation.
Data protection office: IT-Logik have appointed Peter Petrou to be the data protection office for IT-Logik.
Record keeping: IT-Logik have devised a document that clearly defines how we hold data, where it came from, and where we share the data.
Access to data: If we hold a persons data, that person has the right to request any information we hold about that person. IT-Logik will conform within the timeframes set by GDPR and ICO.
The right to be forgotten: If a person requests we remove any data in relation to themselves, we will do so in accordance within the rules set by GDPR. Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org
Double opt in: The Marketing team at IT-Logik have agreed to implement a double opt in policy to ensure a person consents to us holding their data. This will be implemented at the start date of GDPR regulations.
Current Data: IT-Logik have already been in contact with all account holders who currently do not take any IT services from IT-Logik to inform them they are still a part of our email marketing. However, should you wish to opt out of receiving any communications they can do so by contacting us. Simply email email@example.com
Security: In relation to GDPR, all personal data that is tangible is stored securely either by lock and key / safe and only the Data Protection Officer has the authority to handle the data. In relation to digital data, all personal data held either onsite or off is kept securely with high grade level encryption, antivirus, anti malware and other protective features.
Data Breaches: Should a data breach occur, IT-Logik will comply with all the relevant rules set out by GDPR in terms of reporting to both ICO and the persons directly affected.
